1. Clarify installation space constraints
Measure the available height, width, and depth of the installation area (such as walls, floors, or embedded reserved spaces) to ensure that the cabinet size does not exceed physical boundaries. At the same time, reserve gaps for operation and maintenance (it is recommended to leave at least 10-20 cm).
For example: A narrow corridor is suitable for an ultra-thin wall-mounted cabinet (such as 500×300×200mm), while an open equipment room can use a floor-standing large-sized cabinet.
2. Calculate the number of internal components
Count the equipment to be integrated: PLC host, access control controller, power module, card reader interface, alarm device, network equipment, etc. Estimate the minimum cabinet volume based on the size and layout of the components (heat dissipation space needs to be reserved).
Example: For controlling only a single door with basic card-swiping function, a small cabinet (600×400×250mm) is sufficient; if it is necessary to link face recognition and multi-area control, it is necessary to upgrade to a medium or large cabinet (800×600×300mm or larger).
3. Consider functional expandability
If there is a possibility of adding equipment in the future (such as new access control points, IoT modules, or backup power supplies), 20%-30% of internal space should be reserved to avoid frequent cabinet replacement.
For high-security places (such as laboratories), since biometric recognition and multi-level permission modules may be added, it is recommended to directly choose a scalable medium or large custom size.
4. Match the installation method
Wall-mounted installation: Priority should be given to a lightweight and thin design (depth ≤ 300mm) to avoid unstable installation due to excessive cabinet weight;
Floor-standing installation: Larger sizes (such as 1000×800×400mm) can be selected according to the floor load-bearing capacity and total equipment weight, taking into account both stability and expansion needs.
